Transitional Twos Program

Our Transitional Twos Program offers our youngest students the ability to nurture relationships outside of the home in a warm and loving classroom environment. This program is available to students who are 24 months of age.

This program supports each child with the opportunity to experience a classroom setting with age appropriate activities, materials, monthly curriculums and themes. Language development, listening skills and fine and gross motor development is an integral part of the daily routine in this program. A semi-structured yet nurturing classroom routine provides students with opportunities to explore circle time, music and movement, art, sensory play, stories, library time, and classroom manipulatives.

Academic instruction at this age includes an appropriate introduction to colors, shapes, simple numbers, letters and sounds by use of songs, stories, art, sensory play, and our Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum. You can learn more about our Pre-Printing Curriculum at www.hwtears.com.

This class allows for a maximum of 16 children per day with a teacher and an assistant. Children do not need to be potty trained in this program. When you are ready to support your child with transitioning out of diapers, teachers are willing to help guide and support for success at school.

Nursery Program

Our Nursery Program provides children the opportunity to interact socially amongst their peers thus building healthy relationships in a cohesive learning environment.

Daily classroom routines consist of classroom exploration, circle time (including calendar, days of the week, and months of year), academic instruction of monthly themes, fine & gross motor activities, art, music and movement, stories and library times.

Large group, small group, and individualized instruction allows teachers to recognize students learning styles and create activities that support all learning levels and types.

Our yearly curriculum covers monthly themes, letters and sounds, colors, numbers and shapes. Exploration and instruction of patterning, sorting, classifying, fine motor strengthening and skills (by use of crayons, glue, scissors, beading, lacing, etc.) are offered daily.

Preschool 1 Class

We believe that developing healthy work habits in a positive and nurturing environment helps preschool aged children achieve Kindergarten readiness and success.

Our Preschool 1 Program encourages and promotes a healthy balance of developmental and academic readiness by way of classroom instruction in teacher-led and child-initiated activities. The daily structure of this program gives students ample opportunities for a well- balanced classroom setting and experience. Children are encouraged and able to work in large groups, small groups, and independently of one another.

The daily use of our Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum serves to strengthen the understanding between body awareness, shapes, letter shapes, sounds, and numerals. This tangible experience paves way for direct drawing activities, pre-reading and pre-math skills in addition to building a strong foundation for fine motor development. After the initial multi-sensory experience with wood pieces, chalk, chalkboards, play-dough, stamp screens and more students have the experience to work with printing materials such as scissors, crayons, pencils and worksheets. The use of worksheets is primarily a “follow up” to all lessons taught and additionally encourages students to follow teacher-led directions as a group. You can learn more about our Pre-Printing Curriculum at www.hwtears.com.

A solid mathematical foundation and understanding at this level is strongly facilitated by using concrete materials every day for math in Preschool 1. Small group instruction allows for teachers to work closely with each student placing the emphasis on the learning process instead of the “right answers.” Counting, patterning, sorting, sequencing, classifying and graphing, are a few of the pre-mathematical skills that are strengthened throughout the year. Our daily routine of calendar additionally helps students to rote count, pattern and identify numerals as well as learn the months of the year, seasons, weather and the days of the week.

Preschool 2 Class

Our Preschool 2 Program is for students who currently miss the September cut-off for general Kindergarten. This advanced Preschool Program focuses on students gaining independence by way of developing strong academic, social, emotional and cognitive skills.

Prior knowledge of colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and sounds will allow for students to have some foundation in order to feel successful in this program. Fine motor development is also necessary so that writing materials can be used independently for printing exercises. Scissors, glue and other “school materials” are used daily during lessons and projects. Pre-printing workbooks and supplemental worksheets along with our Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum are used daily in this program. You can learn more about our Printing Curriculum at www.hwtears.com.

Learning times are thoughtfully planned and implemented based on monthly themes, yearly curriculums, character education, and the cohesive level of students enrolled in this program. Large group, small group, and individualized instruction are rotated throughout the Preschool 2 Program. The emphasis is academic, however developmental activities such as play and class exploration are well balanced throughout the day.

This program requires students to be able to transition smoothly and quickly from one activity to another. Daily routines and a strong class structure provide the opportunity for students to “anticipate” the direction of the class and follow directions accordingly. Classroom activities include but are not limited to: language arts, phonics, mathematics, science, social studies, cooking, dramatic play, music and movement and library times.
